In genetically obese Zucker rats and ob/ob mice, AOD-9604 reduced body weight and, unlike growth hormone, did not affect blood sugar control.

In a 12-week clinical trial, subjects taking AOD-9604 (1 mg/day) lost an average of 2.6 kg, while those taking a placebo lost an average of 0.8 kg.
